Commissions

I am delighted that you are considering ordering a commission piece. Trying to find the perfect piece of art that speaks to you, makes you smile and makes a difference in your home can be difficult, especially in the current situation. Commissions are a great way to bring a meaningful piece of art into your home, a piece in which you have been involved in the creative process.

Another great benefit of my work is the ability to bring people together! How magic is that?! It feels particularly magical at a time when so many of us haven’t been able to see our loved ones. In my work I usually work from a number of reference photos to create the final piece so if you would love to have a family portrait but aren’t able to be together, I can make that happen through art!

I can create other commissions such as pet portraits, representative pieces and other sentimental subjects so please email me if you have other ideas in mind. I love to get inspiration from working with others so don’t be shy!

How do I order a commission:

Step 1. Guidelines. Read through the guidelines below. This is just so you get an idea of how I work and what to expect during the process.

Step 2. Get in touch! Feel free to call me or send me an email with information on what you had in mind for your commission. It can be an emotional process when deciding to get a commission done so I want to make sure that you feel as comfortable as possible so please ask as many questions as you need to. Also this may be your first time ordering a commission so it may be a whole new world for you. My hope is that you enjoy the process too so there is no such thing as too many questions.

Step 3. Photos. Once you are happy with the guidelines and we have discussed the commission and confirmed that you would like to go ahead with the piece, I will ask you to send on lots of photos. The more photos the more I can get a feel of the subject and in the case of larger portraits I can piece together the best bits to create a portrait to work from. If your commission is a concept piece based more so on a sentiment than a subject I might work with you on a mood board of sorts so we can bring together your vision and portray it in the final piece. Again if you have any questions please don’t be shy!

Step 4. Collaboration. Once we have collaborated on the subject or inspiration of the piece I will bring it all together in my minimalist line style. I work digitally so if there is anything that you would like to tweak or change that can be done no problem. The most important thing is to capture your vision in your commission piece.

Step 5. The Final Piece. As mentioned above I work digitally which provides great freedom for you to choose what size you would like for your portrait. The most popular sizes are A4 and A3 but if you would like a custom size we can arrange that also.

Step 6. Framing(optional). Framing is not included however if you would like your piece framed I work with a local framer and can arrange framing for you at an additional cost. Usually this works out between €60-100 depending on the size and frame chosen.

Step 7. Delivery. You are welcome to collect your piece from the studio or I can deliver it to you. I prefer to hand deliver commissions but in the current situation that is not possible in most cases. Special delivery may need to be arranged for large custom pieces and framed pieces so a fee may be required for this. Do not worry though, I will communicate options fully with you so that you can make the decision that bests suits you.

Guidelines:

Here are a few guidelines that I would like you to read carefully before we commence.

Having reviewed my work, you will need to agree to allow me artistic license to create freely within my own style.

Please be aware that I create instinctively and am more concerned with capturing the essence and character of my subject rather than a photographic type of copy.

With that in mind measurements of a person’s features may not be exact. This is hugely important to bear in mind in advance.

I will need good quality photographs from you. Please choose ones that you like, please be aware that some would not suit the style I work in but I can advise you on this so don’t worry.

I will require 50% deposit up front and the balance on completion, please contact me directly at lucycullenartist@gmail.com or on 0862556436 for a 10 minute chat about the process, I’d be happy to hear from you.

Professional Framing is advised, I can recommend good framers or can arrange framing if you wish.

Guide Pricing:

Portrait including up to 2 people €150

If you would like more than two people in the portrait the cost is €50 per extra subject. Eg. 3 people would be €200.

Framing is extra approx €60-100 depending on size.

I work digitally so custom sized prints are available.

Pieces can be requested to be hand painted in ink for an additional €100.
